Chefmaster Smokeless Indoor Stove Top Barbecue Grill Review

Chefmaster Smokeless Indoor Stove Top Barbecue Grill
Average Reviews:

Very light weight and hard to clean, hard to fill with water and not spill all over the stove. If the product was a heavier metal, it would work a lot better, plus the top is a little rounded, it should be flat to cook the meat an even space from the stove top. I would not puchase this again

Corning Amber Vision Visions Double Boiler Insert with Lid Review

Corning Amber Vision Visions Double Boiler Insert with Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I love Corning Visions cookware because it is very versatile. It can be used in all of the places in your kitchen - you don't need to keep using extra dishes. They can be use on the stove top, in the oven, in the microwave, in the refrigerator or in the freezer. You can cook your meals in them and actually see them cooking in without having to open a lid to check. This is great because you can see all the way to the bottom to make sure the food is cooking evenly and not burning or scorching, etc..
And this cookware is so beautiful you can serve it in them, and then put any leftovers in the refrigerator or freezer right in the pot or pan!
This is because they are not just made out of glass, but a unique glass/ceramic mixture that is highly heat resistant. You can't do that with other glassware and you can't use metal pots in the microwave or oven.
Another awesome thing about them is that since they are glassware, you don't have to worry about metallic compounds leeching into your food like from metallic pots. Also, it never stains. And because it's glassware, it transmits the heat more efficiently, so you can cook at about 25 degrees less than you would in metal.
A neat and interesting fact: In the original commercial for Corning Visions, they took an aluminum saucepan and melted it in a Corning Visions Saucepan at over 1560 degrees F to show the incredible temperatures this cookware can withstand! Pretty awesome (though I wouldn't recommend trying this at home!) :)
Even though this glass is highly resistant to thermal shock, there exists a possibility that it can break or shatter if it is handled improperly. There are some simple things you can do to help make sure your Corning Visions last. Some of them are:
1). When you use a Visions pot/pan on the stove, make sure to place it
on the cold burner and turn on the burner - don't put a cold
visions pot/pan on a hot burner. This allows the glass to expand
slowly as the burner heats-up instead of [too] rapidly.
2). When you use them in the oven, make sure you allow your oven to
preheat to the desired temperature first and then place it in the
oven. The reason for this is that the if you put the visions on
a rack that too close to the heating element, the potential for
thermal shock and damage to the glass exists.
3). When you take a Hot Visions pot/pan off of the stove or out of the
oven, place it on a dry towel or pot holders - avoid placing it
directly on a cold surface like cold burners or the kitchen
counter - this could cause the glass to contract too rapidly.
4). If you chip or crack a Visions item, you should not use it anymore.
A chip or crack is a weak spot and could break/expand when heated
and/or cooled.

** These are simple rules that make sense, and are not hard to follow. And once you get into these habits, it's completely second-nature.

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless-Steel Lasagna Pan Review

Calphalon Contemporary Stainless-Steel Lasagna Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Bottom of pan is stamped 10 x 14 inches.
About the same size as the glass baking dish which is 9 x 12.
Pan is very light...no where near the 7 pounds in the description.
Definitely less than 3 pounds.
Finish is the worst I have seen in stainless steel ( dries with water spots )
The selling price should have been less than $29.
I am a fan of Calphalon but this item looks more like counterfeit.
I will keep it and use it, but would NOT recommend it or give it away as a gift. Would not buy again if this one got lost or stolen

Anolon Advanced Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 1/2-Quart Mini Au Gratins, Set of 2 Review

Anolon Advanced Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 1/2-Quart Mini Au Gratins, Set of 2
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These mini Au Gratin dishes are very well made, the SureGrip handles are very comfortable and ergonomic. The dish is 7 by 5 inches, which is the perfect size for single servings. If you are looking for a larger Au Gratin dish to serve the whole family, don't buy this set. You will be disappointed to see how small the dishes are. The 1/2 quart size is just a pint size. I have tried baked scallop and baked salmon with the dishes, the result is fantastic. Cleanup is very easy.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Anolon Advanced Nonstick Hard-Anodized Aluminum 1/2-Quart Mini Au Gratins, Set of 2

Among the most prized cookware materials, hard-anodized aluminum offers the dual advantage of quick, even heating and long-lasting durability. This set of two mini oval au gratins from Anolon proudly boasts these features, but adds an Autograph nonstick coating inside and out for effortless food release and simple cleanup. The result, a striking piece that cooks efficiently on the stovetop, yet looks perfectly at home in a gourmet kitchen. Offering deep sides and a 1/2-quart capacity, the cookware can be used for both baking and serving--the au gratins work great for hot artichoke dip, baked figs with honey glaze, and quiche, even individual servings of sizzling shrimp scampi.
The hard-anodized aluminum construction not only heats quickly, but also eliminates "hot spots" that plague cheaper cookware due to its thick side and bottom walls. Like many other Anolon cookware lines, Anolon Advanced features the company's patented SureGrip handles, which are a combination of 18/10 stainless steel and silicone rubber and are riveted to the sides for durability. In addition, the ergonomic handles provide a comfortable, confident grip and stay cool on the stovetop for easy control. Oven-safe to 400 degrees F, the cookware should be washed by hand with a mild cleanser. Each mini au gratin measures 7 by 5 inches and carries a limited lifetime warranty against defects.

Calphalon One Infused Anodized 12-Inch Fry Pan Review

Calphalon One Infused Anodized 12-Inch Fry Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
In response to the "chef" who has praised this product though the disparagement of the other reviewers and amateur cooks.
As a former professional chef, cookware retailer, and loyal Calphalon user for the past 20 years, I would like to say that I have rated this product only 3 stars due to the fact that Calphalon has grossly oversold this pan's capabilities. As you can imagine I have quite an assortment of pans ranging from French copper, steel, cast iron, and of course anodized aluminum non-stick.
This pan is expensive and does not come through on the promises that Calphalon has made to the buyers. It doesn't offer me enough advantages to warrant its usurping the place of copper-used where temp control and browning are important, cast iron-for high heat,or the traditional non-stick-used for just about everything else.
I have used Calphalon non-stick for the past 15 years as it is heavier gauge aluminum and the non-stick takes more abuse and doesn't degrade under higher temperatures like competing brands (it also browns pretty darn good). I replaced the first set after 7 years when the non-stick became slow to release and the outside "paint" scraped off with constant use. The second set has lasted 8 years and it too is ready to enter the non-stick graveyard. I was looking for a new non-stick set and had hoped that Calphalon One would offer the easy clean-up and easy release capabilities it advertised.
The pans do not release the food like a non-stick pan and they should not say it does. The exterior is only marginally easier to clean than the professional and commercial series (copper is easier and looks better when cleaned). But-the new handle is easier to grip and better balanced. We can only see how long this new finish lasts when "accidentally" overheated as invariably occurs.
Clean up is easy when you follow the instructions and use Barkeeper's Friend (which I have used for over 8 years) inside and out. Permanent discoloration often occurs when the oil film outside the pan is not removed carefully after each use. Also, extra fine steel wool (0000) is great for removing stubborn stains obtained over time.
If you are looking for a traditional non-stick finish do not purchase this pan. If you would like an easier clean up than stainless, less weight than copper or cast iron, and a sturdy finish then this pan is a good choice.

Calphalon One Infused Anodized 10-Piece Cookware Set Review

Calphalon One Infused Anodized 10-Piece Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have been using the Cal One 10" fry pan for about 3 weeks.
Replaced an All-Clad stainless non-stick that I finally killed after about 3-1/2 years of tough, almost daily use. Wanted a pan that was as easy to use as non-stick, as durable and tough as SS, and cleaned up like new with little effort. Well -- its comes very close.
Have used it to make breakfast sunday morning, saute veggies and cook skirt steak in the broiler -- all with metal utensils.
I pay good money for quality equipment, not because its some yuppie fashion accessory to be displayed on the wall, but because I like to cook and don't want to be concerned about "not damaging" my equipment while cooking --- I know its going to be abused so it pays off long term for me to buy better quality up front.
So far I've been very impressed. This is a solid, durable product. Surface doesn't scratch, it can take the heat, and cleans up well with some soaking. I think folks who are very tough on equipment will like it.
Weaknesses -- Material is low stick, but not completely non-stick. While things don't stick like SS, they don't slide as nicely as a non-stick w/o some oil in the pan. So I feel that some cooks like me will still want a good regular non-stick pan for certain things -- it's not going to be "One" for everyone.
It is also not 'quite' as responsive to changes in heat as the All-Clad Copper Core and SS. However, the differences are so slight that I just don't see any advantage of a traditional SS/Copper pan given this material's other benefits and easy clean up.

What's in the Box 3-quart chef's pan, 4-1/2-quart saucepan, 11-inch chef's skillet, 8-quart stockpot (all with lids); 10- and 12-inch fry pans From the Manufacturer Infused Anodized Cookware
Calphalon One is revolutionary hybrid cookware that combines the best qualities of traditional metal and nonstick cooking surfaces. Calphalon One lets you sear, sauce, and cook exactly the way you want without sticking, staining or tough clean-up.
By means of an exclusive, breakthrough anodization process, interior and exterior surfaces of the pans are infused with an advanced release polymer. Unlike nonstick coatings that simply sit on top of metal, this material actually penetrates below the surface, into the pores of the metal. The infused anodized cooking surface offers superb durability and versatility in the kitchen.
Exceptional searing
Heavy-gauge, highly conductive Calphalon One sears foods quickly and evenly. Meats and poultry brown and develop rich flavor and texture on the cookware's infused anodized surface. Browned bits on the bottom of the pan (called "fond") form readily. Calphalon One is ideal for deglazing and making pan sauces. Extreme durability
Use any utensils you like--including metal--when cooking with Calphalon One. The infused anodized cooking surface won't scratch or peel. Crafted from heavy-gauge aluminum, Calphalon One withstands high temperatures without warping. Pans feature flared rims for extra strength, too.
Cooking versatility
Calphalon One is ideal for virtually any kitchen and any cooking technique you can name. It's compatible with gas, electric, and ceramic stovetops and safe for use in both the oven and the broiler.
Easy, reliable release
Infused with an advanced release polymer, the Calphalon One cooking lets you control when foods release from the bottom of the pan. You'll experience considerably less sticking with Calphalon One than with traditional metal cooking surfaces--and you'll cook with more confidence.
Quick clean-up
Hot, soapy water and a dish cloth--that's all you need to keep Calphalon One sparkling clean. The infused anodized cooking surface releases foods as easily during clean-up as it does while you cook. To keep your cookware looking new, occasionally clean it with a Scotch Brite pad and Barkeeper's Friend cleanser.
Classic vessel shapes
Like the classic French cookware that inspired its shapes, Calphalon One vessels are designed to deliver optimal results with specific cooking techniques. Calphalon One is constructed from heavy-gauge aluminum and features flared rims for protection against wear and tear and to facilitate pouring. Ergonomic handles and contrasting stainless-steel covers bring both greater versatility and beautiful style to the cookware. Cool comfort handles
Triple-riveted and ergonomically balanced, the contoured handle stays comfortably cool for stovetop cooking. The stainless-steel handles are carefully balanced and proportioned to make cooking with every Calphalon One pan comfortable and convenient.
Resists Stains
Calphalon One cookware offers stain resistance to even the toughest foods. Both interior and exterior surfaces of the cookware are infused anodized to resist staining and make cleanup even easier.
Lifetime warranty
Calphalon One Infused Anodized cookware is covered by a Lifetime Warranty. Calphalon will repair or replace any item found defective in material or workmanship when put to normal household use and cared for according to instructions. Minor imperfections, surface markings as a result of shipping, and slight color variations are normal. This excludes damage from misuse or abuse, such as improper cleaning, overheating, dishwasher use, use of caustic or other unapproved cleaners, neglect, accident, alteration, fire, theft, or use in commercial establishments.
Before You Cook
Wash your new pan and cover in hot, sudsy water. Rinse and dry. Do not season your pan before using it. To enjoy optimum performance from your Calphalon cookware, keep it scrupulously clean. Any kind of oily residue on your pan can cause foods to stick.
Heat Settings
Use a lower heat setting than you normally would. Calphalon cookware heats and cools more quickly than other cookware because it's made of heavy-gauge aluminum. It's important to use the right heat setting for the cooking method you're using. Experiment to find the right heat settings on your stove.
High heat for boiling or reducing liquids only.
Medium to medium-high heat for sautiing, stir frying, and frying.
Low heat for warming food, simmering, and preparing delicate sauces.

Stove-Top Use
When sautiing, stir-fryig or frying, always preheat the pan at the temperature setting you'll use to cook. Preheating provides maximum control. The pan is properly preheated when the rim is hot-to-the-touch. Do not preheat on high. For cooking techniques such as sautiing, stir frying, or preparing an omelet, preheat at medium to medium-high.
Oven & Broiler Use
Infused anodized pans can be used in the oven and under the broiler. They are designed to go from a hot broiler to a hot oven and will withstand hot temperatures without warping. Handles will become very hot in the oven or broiler. Always use a potholder or mitt.
Cleaning and Care
Do not clean Calphalon One Infused Anodized cookware in a dishwasher. Dishwasher detergents will damage the surface. Dishwasher use will void your Lifetime Warranty. Hand wash your cookware thoroughly inside and out after every use. Wash with hot, sudsy water and a dishcloth or sponge. To restore your pans to "like new" condition, wash with a green Scotch Brite pad and Bar Keeper's Friend. Pay special attention to rinsing when you use Bar Keeper's Friend; without careful rinsing, the cleaner may occasionally leave a powdery soap film.

Do not use oven cleaners or other caustic cleaning solutions, baking soda, automatic dishwasher detergent, liquid bleach, liquid household cleaners used for walls, floors, porcelain, etc.
Always allow your pan to cool before washing. Submerging a hot pan in water can cause irreparable warping.
For stubborn burnt-on spots, allow your pan to cool then soak in hot, soapy water for 10 minutes. Burnt-on foods will lift off after soaking.
To restore shine to stainless-steel covers, wash with a dish cloth or sponge and Bar Keeper's Friend.
Because Calphalon One is hand-crafted cookware, you may notice subtle variations in the pans' finish. These "character lines" are perfectly normal--a natural result of the manufacturing process.

HIC Porcelain 106-Ounce Casserole Dish with Lid Review

HIC Porcelain 106-Ounce Casserole Dish with Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The HIC Porcelain is heavy and this 106-ounce casserole dish is VERY heavy indeed. I like the dish, and the pattern would match anything else you already have. I only have one complaint in that the dish did not have care instructions included. I realize that the write-up states the dish is oven, microwave, and broiler safe, but I was surprised that it lacked any instructions like other bakeware has. I went to the internet to find more about the HIC brand. One place stated that it's oven proof to 350 degrees, and another said 400 degrees. A broiler gets hotter than that, so I don't know how accurate those descriptions were. It also does not have appropriate uses stamped on the bottom like other brands do (microwave, oven safe, etc.). But, all in all, I like the dish and plan on purchasing other sizes.

Calphalon D1382PB Commercial Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid Review

Calphalon D1382PB Commercial Hard-Anodized 12-Inch Everyday Pan with Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned this pan for about two years ... it's simply wonderful. The Calphalon Commercial line is the top of the line, just like the Professional, but with stay-cool handles. The thick, sturdy aluminum heats up quickly and evenly, and goes from the stovetop to the oven up to any temperature.
My favorite dish to make with this pan is a large omelette for two to four people. You saute the onions, etc., until carmelized, then add the whipped eggs, top it with diced tomatoes, basil, oregano and cheeses, then broil at about 450 for a couple minutes until browned. Simply wonderful!
I also cook stir frys, poach fish, bake casseroles, and brown meats in this truly Everyday Pan.
Now, for the issues: As with all true Calphalon products, you can not put hard-anodized aluminum into the dishwasher. It will damage the surface, leading to pits and discolorations, and void the lifetime warranty to boot!
Second, this is not a nonstick pan. If you want nonstick, buy Calphalon Commercial Nonstick, the best ever made (The Commercial nonstick line has the more advanced LRS3 coating versus the much less effective LRS coating on the cheaper Professional Nonstick II line).
To clean, simply buy a Dobie pad or its equivalent. For the tough stuff, I find a little Bon Ami or Dormond cleaner does the trick without too much effort.
Enjoy!

Cuisinart GG-12 GreenGourmet Eco-Friendly Nonstick Hard Anodized 12-Piece Cookware Set Review

Cuisinart GG-12 GreenGourmet Eco-Friendly Nonstick Hard Anodized 12-Piece Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have now been using this set for 6 months. When we first received and began using them, the pans were perfectly nonstick so that food including eggs could be cooked without any oil, and cleaning was fast and easy. Unfortunately this is no longer true -- the pan we've used most often now requires oil in order than food doesn't stick, despite hand-washing and following the manufacturer's other directions. If no oil is used, the pan is like a traditional pan and not only does food stick, but the pan requires prolonged soaking and scrubbing to get it clean. You must also be careful not to stack the pans (chipping and scratching).
The pan handles do not get hot, but the lid handles do, so be prepared to use a potholder to move the lids.
The set must be hand-washed and handled carefully to avoid chipping, but this is not a problem for us.
I would have rated the set 5 stars had it retained its nonstick performance. The loss of the nonstick capacity and the subsequent difficulty with cleaning the pans drops my rating to two stars.
1/3/10 Edited to add: We've now been using this set for a year and I've noticed several minute to small chips out of the cooking surfaces of more that half the pieces. We do not use metal utensils (silicon only) and are careful with cleaning and storing. One piece has also absorbed the smell of the food that was cooked in it. I am now looking for a different set of cookware, and regret buying this one. While I prefer a "green," eco-friendly product, I think this one needs some improvements in quality and design.

Get everything you need to cook up delicious, healthy meals for your family with this 12-piece set of Cuisinart Green Gourmet Hard Anodized Cookware. Cuisnart's new energy-efficient and eco-friendly Cermica nonstick surface more than just reduces your carbon footprint--this nonstick coating also allows for easy food release and the ability to use less fat while cooking as well as for use in the oven for browning. This 12-piece set includes an 8-inch skillet, 10-inch deep fry with cover, 1.5-quart saucepan with cover, 2.5-quart saucepan with cover, 3-quart everyday pan with cover, 6-quart Dutch Oven with cover, and a steamer insert that fits the 2.5-quart saucepan.
The pans deliver superior heat conductivity, requiring less energy to achieve the desired cooking temperature. Harder than stainless steel, the skillet's hard anodized exterior is dense, nonporous, and highly wear-resistant for extra durability and professional performance as well as quick and even heat distribution. Additionally, the securely riveted stay-cool steel handles are manufactured using 70 percent recycled stainless steel and is oven-safe to 500 degrees F, so food can be browned on the stovetop then transferred to the oven to finish cooking.
Cuisinart's GreenGourmet cookware is designed with an exclusive Cuisinart Ceramica nonstick surface, which features a petroleum-free, ceramic-based coating that is applied at a temperature one half that of traditional nonsticks. The coating does not contain PTFE and PFOA, substances often used in nonstick cookware that have raised health concerns over the years. It was also developed using manufacturing techniques that reduce harmful carbon emissions by consuming less energy. The coating is also water-based, unlike other nonstick coatings on the market, which are solvent-based. In addition, Cuisinart's cookware has a scratch-resistant nonstick surface that won't peel off. The new cookware conforms to FDA and European RoHS standards for environmentally sound products.
These pans should be hand-washed with a mild detergent, and they carry a limited lifetime warranty against defects. Cuisinart also gets some green cred from the packaging, which is made from 100 percent recycled materials and is printed using 100 percent biodegradable soy ink. --Agen G.N. Schmitz

Not only do you get a useful 2-qt pan, but the porcelain insert can be used separately in the oven (not stove top)--although I'm not sure why you'd want to. The insert is thick and heavy and (most important) is smooth inside with no ridges; the support is a stainless steel band on the outside. The insert is big enough to accommodate most pudding/custard recipes. True, the insert is made in China for All-Clad, but the quality appears to be up to snuff.

Staub 12 Inch American Grill Pans Review

Staub 12 Inch American Grill Pans
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The day I got it from Sur La Table I went and bought two New York Strips to break it in. They were text-book picture perfect with an external sear with blood red rare interiors. Incredible for seared steaks or burgers. Preheat on high heat for at least five minutes before cooking. Get it smoking hot before you put the meat on the grill. Juices from deglazing or rendered fat can easily be poured off with the two pour spouts to make sauces or reductions. And it is oven and broiler safe. You will not be sorry!

Cook up bacon in the morning or hamburgers, vegetable kabobs, and a slew of other grilled favorites for dinner with this square-shaped grill pan. Its raised ribbed bottom keeps food up and away from grease for lower-fat cooking, while at the same time creating those delicious, seared grill marks across food. The unit makes it easy to enjoy the taste of outdoor cooking all year long from the convenience of the kitchen stovetop, and its 12-by-12-inch cooking surface allows for cooking up hearty batches to accommodate small families or a group of friends.
Made of heavy-duty cast iron, the pan distributes heat evenly and retains heat nicely--great for slow cooking at low heat temperatures, which intensifies flavors, and its chip-resistant black-matte enamel interior requires no pre-seasoning and can be used right out of the box. The more it's used, the better it gets--cooking oils will penetrate the pores of the matte enamel to create a natural, smooth, nonstick surface. In addition, the durable pan won't react to acidic foods and won't discolor or rust, plus its smooth ceramic bottom will not warp and can be used on all types of heat sources, including induction. The grill pan comes equipped with a long handle with a hole for hanging storage, an opposite helper handle, and two side drip-free spouts for pouring or draining excess liquid. Because of the heat-retaining properties of cast iron, it's not necessary to cook on high heat (medium heat works just fine); the grill pan can also go from the stovetop to the oven (up to 500 degrees F) to the table for serving. Though dishwasher-safe, Staub recommends washing the pan by hand and only using plastic or wood cooking utensils to avoid scratching the enameled surface. Made in France, the enameled cast-iron pan carries a limited lifetime warranty.

Cuisinart GreenGourmet 10-Inch Round Griddle/Crepe Pan Review

Cuisinart GreenGourmet 10-Inch Round Griddle/Crepe Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We have had the 10" griddle for 2 weeks. My husband uses it almost every morning. How do I clean it? Rinse it out with a little dish soap! This is the best piece of non-stick cookware I have ever owned. It is so much better than the old Teflon, and easier on the environment.
07-24-09: Here's an update, Gang. We have two of these now, and they are still going strong. Do not put these in the dishwasher. My son made that mistake, and ruined his little griddle.
04-15-10: Another update. We still use these almost every day. The surfaces are still great.

Cook up a variety of breakfast favorites any time of day with this 10-inch round-shaped crepe/griddle pan. Measuring approximately 11 by 17 by 3-4/5 inches, the unit provides a wide flat surface with straight sides that neatly contain ingredients. Use the pan for anything from eggs or silver-dollar pancakes to omelets, crepes, and much more. As part of Cuisinart's GreenGourmet Hard Anodized line of cookware, the pan combines an earth-friendly design with high-quality materials to ensure long-lasting performance with reduced impact on the environment. The cookware's hard-anodized aluminum construction heats up quickly and evenly, which means less energy required to achieve the desired cooking temperature, and its exclusive, scratch-resistant, ceramic-based nonstick coating (PTFE/PFOA-free and petroleum-free) helps reduce oil consumption and preserve the environment--plus it's applied at a temperature one half that of conventional nonsticks, and it won't peel off. Furthermore, its nonstick interior ensures effortless food release without the need for excess butter or oil, which means lower fat cooking options and quick cleanup. The pan's riveted stainless-steel handle stays cool to the touch on the stovetop and is made from 70-percent recycled stainless steel. Even more, Cuisinart uses packaging made from 100-percent recycled materials and printed with soy ink. Oven-safe up to 500 degrees F and safe to use under the broiler, the cookware cleans up easily by hand and carries a limited lifetime warranty. From the Manufacturer

Anolon Advanced 12-Inch Shallow Round Grill Pan Review

Anolon Advanced 12-Inch Shallow Round Grill Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Anolon 'Advanced' is the much higher quality, and, for some quirky reason, is priced $15 less than the Calphalon! I pan-grilled some filet mignon steaks (am savoring them now) and was impressed at the signature 'sear marks'. Cleanup is a breeze and reviewers should note that the Anolon 'Advanced' line has not been plagued with the shedding of the non-stick coating (as both the 'Commercial' and 'Simply Calphalon' lines have been).
This will not take the place of an outdoor grill, but it does bring a taste of summer into the cold winter months. 'Cook's Illustrated' also gave the Anolon 'Advanced' 12" Deep Covered Grill Pan high marks, but this shallower, non-covered grill pan is $25 less and besides, who covers a grill pan when it is grilling anyway?
PS: I'm glad I 'recycled' my 10+ pound Lodge, cast-iron grill to my weight-lifting son for Christmas! :o)

Calphalon DS9DC Commercial 9-Piece Hard-Anodized Cookware Set Review

Calphalon DS9DC Commercial 9-Piece Hard-Anodized Cookware Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this set for what I consider a steal. The price has been fluctuating a bit, and if you hit it at the right time you can get them for an outstanding price. Just like all the other hard annodized cookware I have bought from amazon, I LOVE these pans! I have now converted nearly all of my cookware to this line, and highly reccommend it to anyone who wants to become a better cook. If you read other reviews, people complain about sticking. YES, food does adhere to the pans while cooking, but when it is done, the food releases from the surface. If you burn the food, do like Emeril says, and use the knobs on your stove. It does take some time and patience to rid yourself of the habits of teflon pans, but the food is so much tastier - I have never made better gravy in my life than since I switched cookware. This is a great starter set, and has most of the pans that you'll need. I would say that the average cook could get around 75% of their cooking done with this set. Have some patience, and I am sure you'll be pleased with the results.

Set includes:8" omelette, 10" omelette, and 12" omelette, 3qt chefs casserole with cover, 7qt chefs casserole with cover, and 2.5qt shallow saucepan with cover. Heavy-gauge aluminum is responsive to temperature changes. These pans feature the original Calphalon hard anodized surface, which is stick resistant, meaning that it sticks when you want it (when your searing, browning) and releases when you need it to(when your food is ready). If you know how cast iron cooks, you know how the hard anodized cooks, but hard anodized has many beneifts that make it better choice- aluminum is a better conductor than iron, you never season your pan(so you dont have flavor transfer from dish to dish), and it doesn't rust! All pans are spun or drawn into shape, which makes the entire pan (sides as well as bottom) the same thickness, which guarantees even heating throughout. If you enjoy cooking and want the best and most versatile surface for performing a variety of techniques- this is the surface for you! Metal utensil and broiler safe. Lifetime Warranty.

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 11-3/4-Inch Skillets Review

Le Creuset Enameled Cast-Iron 11-3/4-Inch Skillets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First of all, let me say I agree with the reviewer who deducted stars from the 9" skillet due to the non-stick coating. Since non-stick coatings are chemicals, I refuse to use any cooking utensil with the coating on them. The original, baked enamel finish on this skillet works great. The secret is using moderate heat and adding oil once the pan warms up, then adding the food items. If the meat sticks, it will unstick as it carmelizes (this also applies to their grilling skillets). I find that I can just wipe mine out and keep using it until I make chili or something messy like that. Then all I do is fill the skillet with water and let it sit a while, then it rinses clean. At the maximum, I've taken a boar bristle brush to a couple of spots once or twice, that's all.
I beseech this company to leave the non-stick coating off their skillets even though one reviewer below seems to prefer it. Or at the minimum give the consumer a choice but I'd bet most would prefer the original, satin finish. In fact, I bought this skillet because of the fired enamel finish as I discovered my well-known name brand stainless steel skillet and stew/pasta pot has too much nickel in them so I can't use them. Anyway, I love this skillet. It makes a good wok too as the burner is under the center of the pan. I can fry up one veggie, push it off to the side where it stays warm while I fry the next one, then push it over until I'm finished. Did I say I loved this skillet?
I wish they made a lid for this skillet as I had to buy another brand which doesn't match but it works. Since most skillets come without lids, this is being silly, I agree. So then, I highly recommend this skillet both for cooking and for easy clean-up.

All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Double-Boiler Insert Review

All-Clad Stainless 3-Quart Double-Boiler Insert
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a wonderful double boiler insert with one minor exception. The ring that keeps it from falling into the pan with the water in it catches the food/sauce and therefore is harder to clean and mix. Now having said that, I still love this pan, I just wish the inside was totally smooth. I use it to make chocolate candies/truffles and the stuff melts up perfectly. Controlling the temperature is key when melting chocolate and with stainless steel its easy. I really should own two of these pans but kitchen space is limited.
(fits the non loop 3/4 qt sauce pans perfectly, The 4qt sauce pan with loop it doesn't seat well, as the loop lifts the edge allowing steam to escape.)

Some of the most luscious things in the world are made possible by double boilers. We're thinking chocolate ganache, caramel cream frosting, almond butter crunch candy, and the list goes on. Heating in a double boiler allows you more control over temperature and therefore helps prevent scorching or accidental boiling.
