(More customer reviews)Consider this a long term test. I bought my Patio Caddie out of desperation when another cheap grille died one nice summer Saturday with friends coming over for dinner. I simply wasn't in a mood to spend $400 or $500 for a king kong unit.
What makes a good grille is really simple: it must start every time (it does), it must generate enough heat to cook (it does, but keeping the cover on helps)and it must have high quality grids (it does). On the last point, and what really sets the Patio Caddie Apart, are the heavy porcelainized grids. The are wonderful to cook on, easy to clean, haven't sagged in 5 years use.
Consider this the Honda Civic of grills: I fill the mini-tank once or twice a year for $7 and cook at least once a week year round (in Seattle, no less). It is absolutely the finest chicken cooking device I have ever seen and easily cooks dinner for 4 to 6. No it won't handle a 10 Lb salmon in one shot or cook a dozen burgers for a tribal reunion. And a Honda Civic wont carry an entire NFL team at one time either.
The only downside is that the heat output does become limited below 50 degrees, but that's a function of the propane, not the grill itself.
If you live in a condo or apartment with a small deck, if you're on a budget, or want a portable unit look no further, this is it.
I will be moving on to a bigger and better grille in a couple weeks, and believe it or not, I have a friend who wants my old patio caddie for her condo. Old, greasy and well used, it still has life in it, and she knows how well it cooks. I just hope my new, bigger grille works as well.

Char-Broil 08301388-26 "CB Collection" Table Top Grill Review

(More customer reviews)For years I wanted a barbeque we could use on our small 3rd story deck. The only thing available were the sort of low quality products you should expect to buy a new one of every year.
Finally Char-Broil has filled the bill. The materials and construction quality are below those of a large high-end grill but far above comparably sized products. The cast iron cooking surface is of a high quality and the thermostat is a nice bonus.
Cons: This is a gas grill made to work for charcoal. No effort is made to conceal or alter the holes for the gas element that is not included. There was no attempt to engineer a solution to grease runoff. Without modification by the owner grease tends to run out the back down the legs and onto whatever it's sitting on.

(More customer reviews)At less than six bucks, and free delivery I couldn't pass it up. I tested it out on some thin strips of steak and it cooked them up wonderfully. I can think of only a few uses for this, but at the price I figure that I could buy a few and have a "make your own fajita" party or something and then throw them away if they aren't worth storing.
The overall manufacturing seems good, though I would have expected/hoped that the grilling surface was a little more substantial (cast iron) rather than pie-tin-thin.

The heating element is on the roof of the oven, towards the back. To toast whatever you're toasting, Sanyo has you place an included metal grate on the rotating glass turntable to prop your toast thing upon. The grate is on legs, to raise the future toast towards the heat. Unless you're using Sanyo brand bread which must be 6 inches thick per slice, the set-up leaves you tooooo far away from the element. Here's the remedy.
Pull the glass turntable out. Place the metal grate on something about two inches high like a bowl turned upside down or bricks. You can also tape trimmed chop sticks to each leg for a more streamlined innovation.
Put your wanna-be toast on the grate towards the back of the oven and turn the thing on. Setting fire to four fish sticks on an eight minute setting, prompted me to write this review.

I started off making grilled zucchini and found it to be pretty smokey, but the taste was good. I next tried grilled chicken and felt like I was going to pass out from how INTENSE the grill smoked!! I had opened all the windows before grilling and it was still terrible!! I have used it one time since with chicken also, and the same result. I would honestly use this grill several times a week if the smoke wasn't so bad. I will again state that the taste is good, and is pretty close to real outdoor grill flavor. I just can't get over the smoke!!

Sunbeam 7530 Rocket Grill Electric Grilling Appliance Review

I usually shop Amazon when I see something on TV that I like but this time it looked so good I just called up and did the deal on the spot. I could have saved a few bucks had I gone to ...zon first and ordered on line.
Even so I am very pleased with the item to the point I wanted to share the experience with those now thinking of buying one.
To me the best feature is that just like the other reviews, there is no clean up. I figured that was a bit too good be true and it almost is. So far, the only clean up needed was to sponge off the lid. A very slight residue of oil will settle on the inside of the lid as the heated steam from the cooking process rises and passes through. The lid is extremely easy to remove so this kind of clean up is almost negligible.
Let me tell you, I've tried a bunch of kitchen grilling systems. There are those where I would set it and forget it, infra-red convection whiz-bang thingies with huge plastic bell shaped lid, toaster ovens of different varieties and a score of others. They all have their cooking gimmicks and most do a good job of cooking as promoted. BUT THE MESS they made always ruined it. Clean up took longer than the cooking did so after a few tries, those devices were stored and not used. Eventually they would be given to a family member (heh), sold or donated.
The Rocket Grill is a keeper and I will use it regularly. Last night I made two frozen filet mignon steaks today I heated up previously cooked rotisserie chicken, made some hot dogs and a grilled ham and cheese sandwich.
Haven't needed to wash a thing. The secret is in the parchment pouches into which the food is put and within which the food is cooked. Essentially all the grease, fat, spatter, etc is retained inside the bag. Nothing but the steam gets out. No spatter, no cooked on grease, no crumbs, no kidding !!! Nuff Said ... get it !!! You'll love it.

Char-Broil 4651330 Tabletop Grill Review

(More customer reviews)I've had this BBQ for over 3 years and use it almost every week to drag it to beaches, camping etc. It's very portable and gets the job done. I've cooked chicken, pork, hotlinks, corn and just about anything you can think of on it just fine.
It does go out on occasion when it's very windy, but you just light it back up. There's one trick that I find helps a lot, I wrap the grille in special BBQ aluminum foil (that has holes in it). It seems to make the grill more efficient -- and also, I've never cleaned it since I just put new aluminum foil every time I use it.
I love this grill and have recommended it to many friends -- it's cheap and has a perfect form factor. You can even put your gas tank, tongs, lighter and other accessories into the grill while you're carrying it to the beach -- awesome!

(More customer reviews)I love mine. It's big, so be aware if you have little counter space. I've got five in my family, and this grill is big enough for bacon on one side, pancakes on the other. It's easy to clean. I've had mine over a year, and have had no problems with the finish. Yes, it does have a hot spot on the left side, but I use it to my advantage. I've had some restaurant experience, and our flat tops were almost always at different temps. Something cooking too fast? Move it over! Put those sausages on the right, as it's a little cooler, and they take longer to cook.
I have had one problem: my probe thermostat went. I called the company, they took the date code off the unit (it was a gift from my Amazon wish list!), and sent a new probe out. The warranty was 30 months! Nice.
I say, if you're a heavy duty griddle user like I am, this is the TANK of the griddle world!

Char-Broil 4584609 Natural Gas Conversion Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I bought my Char Broil Quantum Grill planning on converting it to natural gas. I read that you could do the conversion yourself easily. I found directions on the internet on how to drill out the gas jets. I'm a do-it-yourself person but this didn't sound like a great idea. So I bought this conversion kit. It was easy to install and it works fine that gets it 3 stars. Why only 3 stars?
Here's what's in the kit: a gas hose with quick connect, a wrench, decorative valve bezels and directions. It turns out that the Char Broil Quantum "dual fuel" grills are built for natural gas and they add little fittings to convert them to propane. You lift out the burners, use the wrench to remove the little brass fittings, put the burners back on and hook up the gas hose. Done. I could have visited my local hardware store and done it myself safely for about $10.
Don't get me wrong, I love the grill and the kit works fine but - save your money.

Char-Broil 4984722 Premium Electric Rotisserie Review

(More customer reviews)I received this as a gift and have used it about four times so far. It was OK to install, but interestingly enough the brackets don't fit my Thermos grill all that well. Surprising since both the grill and rotisserie are made by Charbroil.
The motor mount won't adjust quite enough to allow the spit to turn without hitting the lid of the grill. I compensated by slightly propping the lid open ~1\4". You may have to remove the grills themselves to allow the food to turn freely.
I was able to cook two chickens at the same time without much difficulty, but it would be nice if you could buy a second set of prongs to better hold multiple pieces. Overall, for the money, it's a great tool and the resulting food turned out delicious everytime.

I thought that the Nordic grill was the one for me...
It is a good grill in that it has a nice size and heats up very well, but the REAL PROBLEM is that it is NOT NON-STICK!!
I don't know what Nordic's idea of non-stick is but this ain't it!If you don't use some Pam spray on it and your grill any meat on it, I promise you IT WILL STICK to the grill! I made that mistake the first time I used it and I nearly had to sandblast the crud off of it and almost ruined the finish. Buyer beware.

These work great, unlike a cotton mitt you don't feel the heat plus it's easier to maneuver pans and racks as it's a very flexible glove. The only negative is that I wish it went higher up my arm for when I'm being careless. Also, don't get it wet, it loses all it's heat protection when it's wet.

I haven't had it smoke at all. It grills just like outdoors, including the grill marks. And I can have something grilled and on the table fast. No one has to go out on the deck to cook. It's all done on the countertop. I can't say enough good things about this grill. Cleanup is easy and fast, two of my favorite words in the kitchen. I did a lot of research and reading reviews before making this purchase. I believe I found the best of the indoor grills out there.
