(More customer reviews)Consider this a long term test. I bought my Patio Caddie out of desperation when another cheap grille died one nice summer Saturday with friends coming over for dinner. I simply wasn't in a mood to spend $400 or $500 for a king kong unit.
What makes a good grille is really simple: it must start every time (it does), it must generate enough heat to cook (it does, but keeping the cover on helps)and it must have high quality grids (it does). On the last point, and what really sets the Patio Caddie Apart, are the heavy porcelainized grids. The are wonderful to cook on, easy to clean, haven't sagged in 5 years use.
Consider this the Honda Civic of grills: I fill the mini-tank once or twice a year for $7 and cook at least once a week year round (in Seattle, no less). It is absolutely the finest chicken cooking device I have ever seen and easily cooks dinner for 4 to 6. No it won't handle a 10 Lb salmon in one shot or cook a dozen burgers for a tribal reunion. And a Honda Civic wont carry an entire NFL team at one time either.
The only downside is that the heat output does become limited below 50 degrees, but that's a function of the propane, not the grill itself.
If you live in a condo or apartment with a small deck, if you're on a budget, or want a portable unit look no further, this is it.
I will be moving on to a bigger and better grille in a couple weeks, and believe it or not, I have a friend who wants my old patio caddie for her condo. Old, greasy and well used, it still has life in it, and she knows how well it cooks. I just hope my new, bigger grille works as well.

Char-Broil 08301388-26 "CB Collection" Table Top Grill Review

(More customer reviews)For years I wanted a barbeque we could use on our small 3rd story deck. The only thing available were the sort of low quality products you should expect to buy a new one of every year.
Finally Char-Broil has filled the bill. The materials and construction quality are below those of a large high-end grill but far above comparably sized products. The cast iron cooking surface is of a high quality and the thermostat is a nice bonus.
Cons: This is a gas grill made to work for charcoal. No effort is made to conceal or alter the holes for the gas element that is not included. There was no attempt to engineer a solution to grease runoff. Without modification by the owner grease tends to run out the back down the legs and onto whatever it's sitting on.

(More customer reviews)At less than six bucks, and free delivery I couldn't pass it up. I tested it out on some thin strips of steak and it cooked them up wonderfully. I can think of only a few uses for this, but at the price I figure that I could buy a few and have a "make your own fajita" party or something and then throw them away if they aren't worth storing.
The overall manufacturing seems good, though I would have expected/hoped that the grilling surface was a little more substantial (cast iron) rather than pie-tin-thin.

The problem is that the juices from the meats go past the flavor gates down to the burnners that can cause a plug up. I purchased the Charbroil Heatwave because it caputures the jucies in the bowls that are underneath the porclein cooking crates so no jucies will hit the burner. Char-Broil 4651330 Tabletop Grill Review

(More customer reviews)I've had this BBQ for over 3 years and use it almost every week to drag it to beaches, camping etc. It's very portable and gets the job done. I've cooked chicken, pork, hotlinks, corn and just about anything you can think of on it just fine.
It does go out on occasion when it's very windy, but you just light it back up. There's one trick that I find helps a lot, I wrap the grille in special BBQ aluminum foil (that has holes in it). It seems to make the grill more efficient -- and also, I've never cleaned it since I just put new aluminum foil every time I use it.
I love this grill and have recommended it to many friends -- it's cheap and has a perfect form factor. You can even put your gas tank, tongs, lighter and other accessories into the grill while you're carrying it to the beach -- awesome!

(More customer reviews)This is a very well made pan. The surface is not as nicely finished as a Lodge product (number one in my book), it is manufactured in China. But the quality is decent and this pan will probably last forever. This in turn makes me wonder if I will regret this purchase. I've used it only once and to be truthful the "infusion" seemed to make no impact on the flavor of the chicken. Maybe I'm just at an age where most of my tastebuds are dead or perhaps I need to find some better recipes. For those who adore beer can chicken cooking this pan will probably be a big hit.
If you want to get a perfect finish on this pan rub it with a generous coat of shortening, warm it very slightly on the stovetop and then pop it into a 500 oven and turn the oven off. I always seal my cast iron just after baking homemade pizzas when the oven is super heated. Just don't put a cold pan into a hot oven. The surface will be glossy and perfect. You better have a good exhaust fan though, as the fumes are not too pleasant.

(More customer reviews)I received this as a gift and have used it about four times so far. It was OK to install, but interestingly enough the brackets don't fit my Thermos grill all that well. Surprising since both the grill and rotisserie are made by Charbroil.
The motor mount won't adjust quite enough to allow the spit to turn without hitting the lid of the grill. I compensated by slightly propping the lid open ~1\4". You may have to remove the grills themselves to allow the food to turn freely.
I was able to cook two chickens at the same time without much difficulty, but it would be nice if you could buy a second set of prongs to better hold multiple pieces. Overall, for the money, it's a great tool and the resulting food turned out delicious everytime.

(More customer reviews)There is no easier, more hassle-free way to start a charcoal fire than by using one of these. As long as you have access to an electric outlet somewhere in the vicinity of your grill, you'd be foolish to use any other method.
You place the heating element on the grate, with the plastic handle resting on the barbecue's edge. Cover the element with your briquettes, plug it in, wait 12 minutes, and then remove it. By that time, any charcoals that were in contact with the red-hot element will have started. Mound up the coals, wait a few more minutes, and you're good to go. No smelly, dangerous lighter fluids, no chimneys, no newspapers. What could be more simple?
The electric cord is quite short, so if your outlet isn't close by you'll have to use an extension cord. Just make sure it is a heavy duty one - like the kind used for power tools.
It's quite durable if used correctly. I bought the one I have now 6 or 7 years ago and I use it at least 30 or so times a year. The heating element is beginning to crack now, so it will fail soon, but 200+ uses for this inexpensive item is pretty respectable, I think.
I can't understand why everyone doesn't use one of these. If you like to barbecue in your backyard or on your patio or deck, this is indispensable equipment.

- non-stick surface makes it extremely easy to clean. Charred food debris just slides off the surface.
- base of the unit is made of plastic and acts as an insulator so there is no need to put anything under it to protect your tabletop.
- safety mechanism built in so that grill cannot be operated without drip pan.
- takes only 10 minutes to heat up fully.
- grill is a heavy cast iron so holds heat well. I have seen other similar grills by companies like Sanyo and only Zojurushi uses a heavy cast iron grill.
- heats very well. Grills meat very fast.
- no smoke generated- not sure why, but there just isn't any.
Cons:
- none so far.
Notes:
- if you want to grill vegetables, I'd recommend coating them with some oil before putting them on the grill, otherwise the veges tend to get dry.
- power cable is short, so make sure you have an extension cable handy.

I follow directions and spray the grill surface with cooking spray and put half a cup of water in the pan below, and the grill really is, as advertised, smokeless and extremely easy to clean. I like the adjustable grill temperature, a feature I'm not used to since my faithful antique Farberware, now deceased, had only two settings, namely "plugged in and on" or "unplugged and off". The Sanyo cooks everying in half the time the old grill did, and without cabinet-endangering flareups. I particularly like the enormous cooking surface since I'm regularly cooking for 5 adults and a child and with this grill I can cook for all of us at once. The dimensions make it easy to store if you set it vertically rather than horizontally. The appliance is so low in height that I set mine on a silicone countertop protector, but I'm not sure this is really necessary. My only complaint is that there is no surrounding rim to keep your hamburgers from sliding right off the grill when you try to flip them over, but using a second spatula as a backstop solves that problem. This grill is a terrific bargain even at the suggested retail price; at the current Amazon price it's even more terrific.

Weber Style 6435 Professional-Grade Grill Pan Review

(More customer reviews)This received top ratings from America's Test Kitchen (Cooking Illustrated & Cook's Kitchen). I was skeptical because I have tried about a dozen different grill pans in the 18 months, but none have really worked. This is the best I have used yet.
One was a square-ish pan and the corners snapped and became unusable. A common problem with many pans; they are welded and not stamped or folded. The welds usually break due to the high heat in the grill.
My old favorite is a bowl style; it's decent, but the problem is the top is bigger than the bottom so there is not a lot of actual grilling space. As a result you either have steamed veggies or you have to keep stirring.
The biggest complaint I have about most grill pans is the holes. Either they are too big and things like cherry tomatoes and sliced onions fall through, or the holes are too small. Small holes have many problems: difficult to clean, too many and the food gets too charred, too many holes and the metal separating the holes breaks...etc.
This pan is the best pan I have used yet. It it made of one piece with NO welds; the sides are bent up to create a lip and give the user an edge to flip and turn food. Also, the holes are not actually holes, they are slits. This means that one does not have to worry about food slipping through the spaces; from time to time sliced onions get stuck, but not really a BIG deal. It works great for Portabella mushrooms though it is not just for veggies, it's great for fish. Another big seller is that this is stainless and easy-ish to clean. It's not going to be non-stick easy to clean, you will have to scrub, but with a Brillo pad and elbow grease it's not a big deal.
The only complaint I have is the size. I have a two burner grill (unless I can talk my wife into getting a new grill next summer) and the pan can be a little too big for this type of grill. This "complaint" is not that big of a complaint since I usually don't do veggies at the same time as the meat.
If Weber updates this pan, I would recommend making it available in a smaller size and upgrading the metal; it's a little light weight. It's not bad, a little more heft would be nice.
If you have a grilling fanatic in your family (even if it's you) then buy this pan. It's great! You won't be disappointed. Get this pan.

My husband then suggested a hamburger basket for our firepit and I looked on Amazon, lo and behold they had them. We have used this several times this summer and LOVE IT!! Foil Broiler Pans 333 - 1 Pack Review

(More customer reviews)Besides being very flimsy each pan comes with a large - about 8 x 8, paper sticker attached with big globs of glue that take some time getting off. This isn't glue you can roll off and has to be scraped off. The pans come in a sealed package so why they put a sticker on each one and use this glue (toxic?) is over kill. Nice for the convenience but I won't be buying this brand again. Back to a heavy rack with foil underneath.
