Farberware FAC850SS 6-Slice Stainless-Steel Convection Toaster Oven Review

Farberware FAC850SS 6-Slice Stainless-Steel Convection Toaster Oven
Average Reviews:

Very nice. Great design. So far Im happy. I used to have an older Farberware convection oven and it was a bit larger. I liked it better than the new design. Im not all that crazy with the "pizza" design trend with the round exposed "pizza" area in the back of the unit. Its not insulated like the rest of the oven and its hot, and loosing energy thru heat loss. But it seems most ovens now are not concerned with effeciancy.
This company had a great oven about 8 years ago, and now I cant find it.
This is the best for its price though, and it does what its says, but the older unit was better. A bit larger, but much better! I found some used units of the old oven on ebay but they were pretty " used " so I got this one.
My last Faberware lasted 10 years. Im hoping for the same with this one.
Im sure you will be quite happy with this model. I like the crumb tray. and it comes with a broiler pan. Nice touch!

Four Slice Toaster Oven with Timer Review

Four Slice Toaster Oven with Timer
Average Reviews:

I bought this toaster oven in early January and by the second week of September - after very moderate use - it had died. I used it to make toast most mornings and 1-2 times a week used the broiler or oven function for fries or things like tuna melts. One day when I turned it on there was a strange, chemical, burning smell and it just stopped working. My previous toaster oven (different brand) worked great for over a decade - wish I could replace it!

Sanyo EM-Z2100GS Microwave Oven with Built-In Grill, Black and Stainless Steel Review

Sanyo EM-Z2100GS Microwave Oven with Built-In Grill, Black and Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This microwave/toaster is great, but initially, people are going to complain about the toaster.
The heating element is on the roof of the oven, towards the back. To toast whatever you're toasting, Sanyo has you place an included metal grate on the rotating glass turntable to prop your toast thing upon. The grate is on legs, to raise the future toast towards the heat. Unless you're using Sanyo brand bread which must be 6 inches thick per slice, the set-up leaves you tooooo far away from the element. Here's the remedy.
Pull the glass turntable out. Place the metal grate on something about two inches high like a bowl turned upside down or bricks. You can also tape trimmed chop sticks to each leg for a more streamlined innovation.
Put your wanna-be toast on the grate towards the back of the oven and turn the thing on. Setting fire to four fish sticks on an eight minute setting, prompted me to write this review.

A microwave oven, browner and toasting oven all in one chassis! Microwave your food in the .8 cubic foot stainless steel interior using the 900 Watts of power or grill some chicken using the 1000 Watt built in quartz heating element or maybe you want to toast a bagel. You can do it all in this multi-use unit. A stainless steel front and handle give the unit a rich, elegant look while the tactile touch keys make it easy to get started. The 60 minute digital rotary timer lets you set your time as well as select one of the 9 preprogrammed menu functions. A large 12 3/8" turntable handles your extra large dinner plates. Two combination cooking keys lets you microwave and grill food such as steaks and fish that need cooking throughout but also a browning to the outside. Child lockout. A wire grilling rack is included.

Black & Decker 4-Slice Convection Toaster Oven - White Review

Black and Decker 4-Slice Convection Toaster Oven - White

I had the standard Toaster oven by GE finally went on me.
I asked my daughter to help me find one that was just simple, no flashy extras. Just a timer, heat setting and oven or toast selector can't get much simpliar than that. Very well designed, and has replaced my oven completely. Some people may not like the sound of the ticking of the timer, but personally it's a good reminder it's on. Also you can only set the timer up until an hour and to me that is a good function also cause I don't think you would or should use this to replace and oven for long time cooking.

DeLonghi EO1251 6-Slice 1/2-Cubic-Foot Convection Oven, Black and Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

This appliance works quite well both as an oven as well as a toaster but does not really cut cooking times by 40%. For example, the manual states 50 minutes for a baked potato. In actual experience that's about how long it took but it's also about the same amount of time as it takes in my conventional oven. That option uses more electricity, however, so it's a better value to use this one for small meals. The same thing goes for taquitos, pies, and similar snacks. They take a little less time than a conventional oven but nowhere near 40% less, though the convection cooking does make things a bit crisper when you're looking for that feature.
The smaller oven gets up to heat much faster than a full size one does, of course, saving some electricity that way too. It seems to have a cold spot near the glass door which is particularly noticable when cooking pies (which, by the way, are the only thing that seems to cook ~30% faster than normal). Rotating them about halfway through the cooking process resolves that problem for the most part.
The advertising states that it comes with a non-stick bake pan and a non-stick broil tray. The pan and tray are included but they are not non-stick. The interior coating, however, is except for the crumb tray. The variable temperature goes up to 450 which is sufficient for most applications. It broils well, toasts okay, and has a very quite and efficient convection motor.
The dial controls are cheap plastic so I'm not sure how long they'll last. I've only had it for a few weeks at this point and they're doing okay but I'm conscious about delicacy in handling them. It comes with two racks yet it's so small inside I've yet to find a combination of anything other than toast that allows me to use both of them. The advertising/picture makes it look much larger than it really is.
All in all I'm happy with the unit and at the Amazon discount/free shipping with the price too. There's no way I'd pay full "retail" price though... I'm also a little disappointed about the accuracy of the product descrition and the overall speed of cooking however. It is, without a doubt, a huge improvement over a conventional toaster oven.

Euro-Pro TO31 Digital Convection Toaster Oven Review

Euro-Pro TO31 Digital Convection Toaster Oven
Average Reviews:

Fair. Good size. good looks. Fancy name. Pro's will want a warming feature adjustable from 110F to about 130F (not available). A pro will want the top element alone to light on broil & rotisserie, the bottom element to light on bake, & both elements to light on toast, but To31 lights both elements on all settings (bake, toast, broil, rotisserie), with top element always 1/2 lit; not good for energy efficiency nor for pro baking, toasting or broiling. Pro will not like to have to unplug unit when not in use, then plug back in for use (see manual). All those buttons & no real OFF switch!!! No warming (110F)!!! A real pro will need one or two more wire racks & baking pans (only one provided; must buy eniter accessory set for $26 to get an additional wire rack & baking pan, no slack). No variation in heating element selection. Definitely named to sell, not to function. Mark Twain once said: "There are 3 kinds of lies: lies, damned lies & marketing." Here's an example of the latter & worst kind of lies.

Black & Decker TRO700S 4-Slice Toast-R-Oven, Stainless Steel Review

Black and Decker TRO700S 4-Slice Toast-R-Oven, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's hard to really know what you're getting when you buy a toaster oven on-line, sight unseen. This is an appliance that gets used frequently, so it is a good idea to see it first-hand. I chose to buy this at a local appliance store that sells it cheaper than here. But unfortunately, I had to return it--TWICE.
I looked around at a number of convection toasters, and this one seemed to fit the bill--decent quality, attractive design, good crumb guards over the heating elements, nice size for cooking a variety of things, and the Black & Decker name. My previous Black & Decker toaster oven lasted me over 10 years, so I was partial to the brand. WAS.
My first test was to check out the convection feature. I clicked the convection switch--nothing happened. On-off-on-off-on... off. Nothing. I tried it again with the oven on/off and the toaster on/off. Still nothing. It was completely dead. I called up Black & Decker and told them about it, hoping there might be some trick to it. Nope--my unit was defective. I decided to try it anyway.
I put in a London broil and turned on the oven. It heated up reasonably fast and did a superb job. I never thought you could cook a steak so nicely in one of these toaster ovens (less time and less energy than a full oven). I was a little dismayed at how much heat is transferred to the outside (it's easy to burn yourself on that stainless steel), but I was willing to overlook that.
The next day, I brought it back to the store to get a replacement--I figured I had just hit a little bad luck. I had the clerk open the box and plug it in first, so I could see if the convection fan was working (just in case the whole shipment the store got was defective). It did. I was happy and walked off with my new unit.
The next day I decided to make some toast. I looked at the dials and realized I needed to read the instructions. The design is a little quirky, in that the oven temperature control doubles as a control to choose whether the oven or toaster features will be used. There's also a dial labeled "timer", but it's only used for the oven. Most toaster ovens I've seen in the past have one control to set the intensity (light, medium, dark) and another to turn it on. This uses one dial that turns on the toaster as you rotate it to the desired toasting intensity, and it should countdown (like the oven timer) until it reaches "off".
I turned the dial to 'medium', as suggested by the instructions, put in the toast, and walked away to do something else for a few minutes. When I came back in the room, the toast was burnt to a crisp and the dial was still on 'medium'--it didn't move at all. I turned it off... then turned it on. Yep, there's no ticking sound, as heard from the timer for the oven function. I played with the dial a little more and could coax it to tick for a second or two, but then it would stop. DEFECTIVE AGAIN.
Well, that's it. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me (yep, that's the cliche Bush couldn't get right). I brought it back to the store and gave up. I decided my time was not worth toying with a $60 appliance. I'm going to spend more this time and get something that WORKS reliably, has good heat insulation, and logical controls.
So, here's what I didn't like about this unit:
1) Encountering TWO defects, one in each unit I tried. This is shameful, Black & Decker.
2) The controls don't feel like good quality. I also don't like the ticking sound (when it works). It's disturbing if you're trying to read the newspaper next to this thing.
3) The stainless steel exterior gets extremely hot. You can easily burn yourself on it, as well as anything nearby. My old cheap Black & Decker toaster oven got hot, but not this bad--and it cooled off fast, while this TRO700S model remains hot for a long while. This is just downright dangerous.
4) The door doesn't have any rubber cushioning--it is metal slamming up against metal. If I was going to keep this, I would apply some heat resistant rubber pieces to buffer the sound.
What I did like about it:
1) It cooks well and even.
2) It has decent crumb guards over the elements.
3) It's a nice size for what it can cook.
4) It is a good looking unit.
Unfortunately, my likes couldn't outweigh my dislikes. And the quality problems are just ridiculous. These are BASIC functions that should pass quality assurance tests, simple problems like an ON/OFF switch not working or a timer dial not turning should never leave the factory.
I contacted Black & Decker and complained about my experience. They recommended I buy another and that it "probably won't have any problems". I'm sorry to say that it will take a long while before I consider a Black & Decker ever again.

Black & Decker Stainless Steel Digital Convection Oven Toaster Review

Black and Decker Stainless Steel Digital Convection Oven Toaster

I've had this toaster oven for almost a year now and its performed way beyond my expectations.. After buying and returning 3 other brands, I found this to be head and shoulders above the rest.. I've used it for baking, broiling, Pizza and 100s of other things and it just works great.. If I had any complaint it would be the time it takes to toast, but it produces great toast every time and its very repeatable as well.. I love the preciseness of the digital controls as well, and with the automatic shut-off there is no overdone or burnt food.. Temperature control is also very accurate and consistant.. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

0.5 Cu. Ft. Digital Convection Toaster Oven Review

0.5 Cu. Ft. Digital Convection Toaster Oven
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have had the DO1289 for a month and overall I am very happy with it. The toaster is gorgeous and does a great job baking. I have cooked fish and steaks and everything has turned out perfectly. The convection fan is not too loud and does its job well. In terms of toasting, the oven is not spectacular, but certainly adequate. Getting a crispy slice of toast takes about 5 minutes. Though it takes a few clicks to do anything on the toaster, the controls and knobs are straightforward and well designed.
I spent a long time analyzing and breaking down the pros and cons of the different top quality toasters so hopefully this review can save you some time. Here are the other toasters I looked at seriously :
Cuisinart TOB-195: Generally well-reviewed, but I could not get past the fact that the toaster does not have automatic shut-off. This is a key safety feature that I was unwilling to sacrifice. The DO1289 does have auto shut-off and turns off after beeping loudly 3 times. In addtion, the Cuisinart's crumb tray comes out the back, which seems totally stupid and impractical.
Krups FBC2: Looked like the perfect toaster, but again a safety feature got in the way. Apparently the Krups model has a poorly constructed door hinge and is prone to exploding. The DO1289's door is very smooth opening and seems well constructed. The Krups' quartz heating would have been nice, but still not worth it. I also suspect that the Delonghi has a little more overhead clearance than the Krups so I can roast a small chicken.
Breville Smart Oven: This oven has almost every feature and is the most powerful and spacious of the bunch, but $250 for a toaster is just absurd. I bought my Delonghi refurbished for $70, so it was no contest.
The Delonghi also has an oven light (which most others do not) and a bright permanently illuminated display--a nice feature at night for seeing the time. One other feature that doesn't get much attention, but was very important to me, is the Delonghi's Durastone enamel interior. This is great because, unlike toasters with traditional nonstick interiors, I can put metal and glass dishes in the oven, as well as aluminum foil (every one of the other aforementioned ovens advises against using glass or foil). Durastone is apparently nonstick so I can only hope that it has fewer chemicals or is safer than traditional nonstick (I would love it if someone knew the answer). Either way, it is a step up from the other high end toasters that I researched.
Based on my comparisons with other toaster ovens, I found that the Delonghi 1289 is the best designed and most practical. The Delonghi's performance is very good, though not spectacular, it has great features and, in my opinion, is the best choice for a high-end toaster oven.
UPDATE: After over a year owning the Delonghi DO-1289, I am still very happy and everything continues to work exactly as it should.

Even after reading some of the poor reviews I decided to try the toaster on my own. In general I agree with the fact that the glass that faces the back of the handle could've been much better insulated or protected, however, as long as we keep in mind that this is an oven and should be handled with care I don't believe this is too much of a problem. The oven itself is a great machine. It heats up items thoroughly, the knobs seem to be of a good quality, it looks great in our kitchen, the convection fan is not loud, it is very roomy, and the price is not very high. As far as price goes, I reviewed some models of other brands that were in the $125.00 range which were, in my opinion, very comparable to this one in features, looks etc. I would definitely recommend this item to anyone.

Average Reviews:

What a disappointment. I am a huge Kitchenaid fan and I can't believe the poor quality of this toaster oven. As others have said, the finish is poor...the paint is not smooth and is chipping off around the oven door straight out of the box. The stainless steel trim is rough and cheap looking; it seems poorly machined. As for the performance, toasting is totally aggravating since the top element gets MUCH hotter than the bottom. The timer is cheap and the "ticking" is annoying. When the timer ends, the bell is out of synch. There is no on/off switch; just the timer to control the oven. I expected MUCH more from a toaster oven in this price range. I was happier with my old Toastmaster that cost about $40 and lasted for years. You can do much better than this for considerably less money.

I owned a Delonghi before and it died of old age. I loved it and decided to get this one. 1. Description says it's red; it's black; 2. It only goes up to 390 degrees for baking; 3. The broiler pan doesn't sit on the rack; it has it's own slot. However, broiling time is greater than my last one; fat on steak never even sizzled. When you attempt to remove the broiling pan, as it isn't resting on anything, it tilts when you take it out and it could drop and injure someone, or if using a pot holder, it could catch fire; 4. I made toast and had to put it through twice and it burned part and the rest wasn't toasted. It is now being made in China and as with most things from there, it is very inferior. Too bad.

I've had B&D toaster ovens in the past and they've always held up well, so when it came for a new one I mostly dismissed the negative comments by others and purchsed this model. Well - unfortunately the negatives reviews are correct. Toast made on the bottom shelf ends up burnt where directly above the heating element, and untoasted elsewhere. But far worse was the rude awakening I received on the 2 month anniversary of my purchase. My attempt to toast a bagel appeared more like a 4th of July celebration when the unit completely shorted, providing me with a nice light show. And not that I'd have any inclination to use it again but it's now dead.
I tried to contact the B&D service number provided with the manual and lo and behold the documented late and weekend hours are no longer valid, so I guess I'll now be spending my work day negotiating for a new unit as opposed to someone else's "repaired" unit. If they're this bad when new I can't imagine what a refurb would be like. And I can't imagine what I'll be paying in shipping charges. BE FOREWARNED!

The unit features a quartz heating element and 1500 watts of power to ensure fast, professional results, plus it comes with a reversible chrome-plated broiling rack with upper and lower rack slots for added versatility. Three user-friendly control knobs make the oven simple to operate. The top knob adjusts the temperature up to 450 degrees F, the middle knob selects the function (convection bake, broil, toast, or keep warm), and the bottom knob allows for setting the timer up to 60 minutes or choosing continuous "on", as well as selecting the shade setting when toasting bread or bagels. If you want a real counter top oven do not waste your money on a microwave, for healthy cooking, baking and eating a convection is the best.
This oven is everything I have been looking for; great capacity, convection, stainless steel interior, excellent price and good looks. It bakes, and browns and roasts, and broils. It is easy to use.
I just cannot get a properly made one, the oven seal fell off the first one and one of the racks was broken. So i sent it back for a replacement. Got the replacement and the convection fan is much loader than the first, sounds ready to break, the oven seal falls off again and the door is not flush, you can see the hot air leaks.
Back she goes, again.
....also Amazon informs me that they have heard of problems with this model and will not be replacing it a third time. So there you have it.
If you can get a good one (I still cannot vouch for its longevity); you may luck up.

I wrote two reviews for this oven because I ended up purchasing it twice. The first one shocked me with its terrible functioning, but as of purchasing the second one, I have no complaints with its operation (thus far). I wonder if these ovens suffer from some quality control issues. In order, here are my reviews:
Review #1: This is quite possibly one of the worst appliances I have ever bought in my life and I seriously hope my model is simply defective.
(1) It entire oven itself shakes and buzzes. The vibrations are terrible.
(2) The glass door touches the front of the oven and makes a loud buzzing noise. If you push against the handle, it quiets down a bit, but it's still as loud as a hair dryer. Not a comforting noise, especially listening from another room. I would say it's like listening to a bathroom fan or a jackhammer (from 2 blocks away).
(3) The fan is noisy. It starts and stutters and makes noises as if it is hitting the metal enclosure inside. If you've ever run your finger against a fan to hear the whup-whup-whup noise it makes, then you know what it sounds like. Except it's against metal, which is more worrisome.
I was so excited when I bought it and now I'm just disgusted and sad instead. It was originally going to get 1 star because it cooked food as it was supposed to. I gave it another star for having options and features. But with an oven this noisy, it's not worth it. Especially if you're paying full price. I'm glad that I paid 1/3 of what it is listed at, at a Dept. Store. However, I nearly jumped out of my skin from fright when I started it and it is going back tomorrow.
Extra note: Is it operator-error or an imbalanced countertop? I pulled out the contractor's level to double-check. My counter top is perfectly level, it was not sitting on anything unbalanced, and it was not touching any other appliances. It's the oven.
Review #2: So being the ever-lasting optimist (or just someone who can't let a good deal go), I purchased another one. I noticed that one leg was shorter than the others, and created an imbalance, but decided to try it anyway. When I clicked the "on" switch and turned the dial to 400 degrees, I held my breath, stepped back, and cringed... but the fan turned on with a gentle and not unpleasant whir. This was markedly different than the last 74766 I purchased, which buzzed and rattled. So I conclude that perhaps it was just a quality control issue. But at the price these were originally sold at, I would have hoped there were no issues! However, now that the mechanical issues are out of the way, I can finally review the oven itself.
It starts up relatively quietly and works well, has several features, though I didn't see a rotisserie option - that is in a different model, but it broils, bakes, and toasts. It comes with a very handy metal pizza disc, and can accommodate up to 12" pizzas and a whole roaster chicken; mind you - not at the same time. It is a bit large but not more than any 1.7 cubic ft. microwave, plus, it's shorter. There is a removable tray at the bottom (pulls out at the front for cleaning) and it comes in stainless or black knobs. I like the auto-shutoff timer option, and prefer the old-fashioned knobs to a digital interface. The oven itself seems sturdy enough, and has a nice metal handle (not plastic like others). It cooked quickly and relatively quietly. I am looking forward to roasting chickens and prepping dishes without needing my regular oven. But I can guarantee that I will be watching this oven closely for mechanical defects, which I'm sad about. If you buy something, you hope not to worry about it breaking! Nevertheless, if you're not paying full price for this oven, it's worth a try. Just buy two ;)

Hamilton Beach 6-Slice Toaster Oven Review

Average Reviews:

I bought this oven about a year ago and I use it several times a week. It's a little slower than a standard toaster, but that's always the case for toaster ovens, and it seems on par in its own arena. It's a good bit roomier than the Black&Decker ovens I had previously used, and it seems sturdier as well. Additionally, it doesn't cut off when the door is open, which I see as a feature, but some might dislike for safety reasons. Timer and power are consistent. The crumb tray is removable, and it comes with a single shelf, a pan, and a grille for the pan.
