Black & Decker 6-Slice Stainless Steel Convection Oven - CTO6335S Review

Black and Decker 6-Slice Stainless Steel Convection Oven - CTO6335S

My Wife & I purchased this Oven with the thoughts that with a Brand Name like Black & Decker that safety would be a priority. We were so wrong! This oven has so little heat shielding that using a Professional Chef's Thermometer (I am a Pastry Chef) we measured over 150'F on the side over 200'F on the back and we stopped counting when the top hit 250'F and was still rising. You get easily burned by this unit as even the control panel was hot, over 120'F, the door is very hot and just drops due to the weight and if you try to catch it you will get burnt. I would not place this within 6" of anything and definitely would not keep it under the shelves because if it does not set it on fire the intense heat this generates will destroy the underside. It can also not be placed against a wall unless you have a piece of heat resistant board to keep it from destroying your drywall, or worse yet setting fire to your wallpaper!
Not only due to the hazards this presents but because the controls are not user friendly. You have no idea how long something is going to take, you ask it to toast and it just goes and you have to watch to see how dark it is getting and stop it.
Tomorrow we are bringing it back and we would rather spend 2x the money for another than risk burning down the house.

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Hard Anodized Eco-Friendly Nonstick 5-1/2-Quart Saute Pan with Helper Handle and Cover Review

Cuisinart GreenGourmet Hard Anodized Eco-Friendly Nonstick 5-1/2-Quart Saute Pan with Helper Handle and Cover

This cookware does the job providing even heat throughout your cooking process. The surface is super slick but gives you a nice foundation for searing, braising and pan frying and lends itself to a variety of sauce making applications. A simply pan reduction sauce is a snap and cleanup is a breeze, with paper towel no less. The nicest features are the stay cool recycled stainless steel handle mirrored with the ability to finish your meal preparation in the oven or broiler.
The deep rich browning created by this pan is uniform and flavorful. Don't let the competition sway you, cooking till black is not the new brown! So, if you are going green, get this cookware, it's certainly your next step! If you wish to look at one up close and feel the quality for yourself then head on over to your nearest Le Gourmet Chef outlet store, you will not be disappointed.
I recently prepared Chicken Marsala utilizing this pan and a Simply Calphalon Saute Pan. Both pans performed well but the golden brown searing and coloration was more developed in the Cuisinart pan. I also was able to adjust the gas at a lower flame under the Cuisinart pan. The Calphalon pan was searing at 8 out of 10 on the cook-top range whereas the Cuisinart pan was searing at 4 out of 10. The fond left on the pan from the searing in the Cuisinart pan was also more developed and added to the Marsala recipe quite nicely.
I will post a comment and update the link when I test the new Calphalon Unison searing pan against the Cuisinart GreenGourmet Saute pan.

A hardworking addition to any cookware collection, this 5-1/2-quart saute pan provides a wide flat surface with straight sides that neatly contain ingredients. Measuring approximately 22-4/5 by 13-8/9 by 5-1/5 inches, the pan works well for anything from searing fish, browning meat, and braising roasts to cooking one-pot meals like chicken and rice. As part of Cuisinart's GreenGourmet Hard Anodized line of cookware, the pan combines an earth-friendly design with high-quality materials to ensure long-lasting performance with reduced impact on the environment. The cookware's hard-anodized aluminum construction heats up quickly and evenly, which means less energy required to achieve the desired cooking temperature, and its exclusive, scratch-resistant, ceramic-based nonstick coating (PTFE/PFOA-free and petroleum-free) helps reduce oil consumption and preserve the environment--plus it's applied at a temperature one half that of conventional nonsticks, and it won't peel off. Furthermore, its nonstick interior ensures effortless food release without the need for excess butter or oil, which means lower fat cooking options and quick cleanup. The cookware's riveted long handle and opposite helper handle stay cool to the touch on the stovetop and are made from 70-percent recycled stainless steel. A V-shape on one end of the long handle helps dissipate heat, while a hanging hole on the other end allows for convenient storage when not in use. Even more, Cuisinart uses packaging made from 100-percent recycled materials and printed with soy ink. Oven-safe up to 500 degrees F and safe to use under the broiler, the cookware cleans up easily by hand and carries a limited lifetime warranty. From the Manufacturer

Farberware Classic Stack 'N Steam 3-Quart Saucepot and Steamer Review

Farberware Classic Stack 'N Steam 3-Quart Saucepot and Steamer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This has got to be the deal of the century, and not only that, these pans will last you almost that long! My mother has had a set for 35 years, and I've had mine for 5. Nearly indestructible, dishwasher safe, good performers on the stovetop, with stay-cool handles! They even look great after all those years!
Keep in mind that because they are mostly stainless steel, with an aluminum bottom, Farberware does not heat up quite as fast as, say, hard-anodized aluminum such as Calphalon, which gourmets prefer. Stainless steel is a poor heat conductor, while aluminum is good and copper is the best. On the plus side, you can't put Calphalon in the dishwasher and Calphalon does not have true stay-cool handles, like Farberware.
Anyway, how often do you buy a gift knowing that it will still be around 20, 30, 40 years from now? By the way, if the pot does have a problem, they come with a Lifetime Warranty.

What could be healthier than steamed veggies on a bed of rice or pasta? With this stackable set you can utilize the steam from whatever's simmering below to cook whatever's on top. How's that for cooking efficiency? Functional as well as beautiful, this 3-quart saucepot and 2-quart steamer insert are made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. The pot has an aluminum core in its base to spread heat quickly and evenly. The core is completely clad in stainless steel so, like the rest of the pot and the steamer, the pot bottom resists corrosion and discoloring and cleans up easily. Thick rolled rims add durability and make it possible to pour from the pot without dripping. Because the pot is 4-1/2 inches deep and comes with a tight-fitting, domed lid, it is roomy enough to simmer stocks and soups and can also be used for braising veal shanks or for cooking chili on the stovetop or in the oven. (The handles are oven-safe to 350 degrees F and stay cool on the stovetop.) The pot and steamer are dishwasher-safe and come with a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron 10 1/4 Inch Square Skillet Grills Review

Le Creuset Enameled Cast Iron 10 1/4 Inch Square Skillet Grills
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The only reason why this doesn't get the last star, in my book, is because of its somewhat limited usefulness. However, if you live in an apartment or otherwise anywhere where grilling is impossible, this is the next best thing....like all other Le Creuset products this heats evenly and wonderfully and takes abuse. I got mine as part of a 6-piece set (along with a Dutch Oven, Baking Pan, and Casserole) and sorta at first saw this as a "filler" piece. However, to it's credit, this pan can do even easilly-burned items like tofu dogs and fake bacon WONDERFULLY, which shocked me--I was convinced that nothing could give a "grilled" effect to those items. I even got adventerous the first time I used it and grilled some apple rings. I panicked when some sugar seemed to be burnt on for good despite a good soaking, but after the pot had been dried and put away for 48 hours it flaked right off. Forget what you know about nonstick surfaces, btw, and banish those bad memories of cruddy, flaking Teflon from the 70's. Just treat this well (I only use wooden utensils on it) and it will treat you well. Follow the instructions and enjoy! Just be sure to use a potholder and realize that once this thing gets hot it STAYS hot for a LONG time.

With Le Creuset grills you can cut the fat but retain the flavor. The deep ribs separate the fat from the food allowing for healthier cooking. The grills can go on the stove or under the broiler - a rainy day will never prevent you from enjoying your favorite barbeque foods. The ribbed base sears food evenly and gives the characteristic char lines. With Le Creuset grills you can serve it with a sizzle. Whether frying, grilling, or sauteing, the satin black enamel interior on our grills can withstand the rigors of everyday use and offer great flexibility. Best of all, they require no seasoning and will not absorb odors or flavors.

Black & Decker FC150BR InfraWave Speed-Cooking Countertop Oven, Black Review

Black and Decker FC150BR InfraWave Speed-Cooking Countertop Oven, Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As I read some of the other reviews of the Infrawave I am pretty shocked. Some people do nothing but dump on this little marvel, but I love the darn thing! I got the Infrawave about nine months or so ago, and I have never once regretted it. This thing works as well (or better) than my conventional oven for practically anything in a single serving size, which is nice for a single guy who likes to cook.
I'll admit I was a little nervous about trusting it do everything it has preset, like broiling burgers or chicken, but it really does deliver. I must use this thing at least three or four times a week as a replacement for the microwave or the oven. Probably more. Without preheating I can have good burgers in about ten minutes of turning it on, and that is fine by me. My personal favorite is having grilled hot dogs in eight minutes without actually firing up my gas grill. It isn't replacing my outdoor grill, but it's strong enough to completely cook through a stuffed pork chop without turning it into charcoal first. Another perk: it does not heat up the room at all, unlike my conventional oven.
All of that being said, it is not idiot-proof or perfect, but what is? When you are cooking with it you have to use your common sense--Am I using this thing as an oven or a toaster? If you cover your food in aluminum foil you are TOTALLY CHANGING THE EQUATION! Once you cover the food in something reflective you are more or less turning your back on most effective heating source the oven has, and the cooking time will increase. It still will work, but you can't trust the recommended times the oven wants you to use, you have to start thinking more like conventional oven cooking times.
In one other review someone mentioned that the outside of it gets very hot. It does! That is my only real gripe with this item. I would be really aware of this if I had a little one running around while I was using it. That being said, I have it sitting on a baking stand about 3 inches from the wall and I have felt the wall while it was cooking and was very comfortable that there was no danger of anything spontaneously combusting. As a matter fact I have cotton apron that is touching it most of the time while it is cooking and it's perfectly fine. As a final gripe, they could have given a ceramic or glass dish that was fitted to the inside of it, but with some shopping I found one of my own. (Works much better for baking than the metal tray given.)
So there it is; the Infrawave is a fine cooking tool. It is by no means perfect, but it is a great little oven/broiler/toaster.

Unlike conventional or convection ovens, this state-of-the-art countertop oven uses infrared-light technology to evenly cook the inside and outside of foods simultaneously. Superior browning and crisping capabilities seal in flavor, whether cooking meat, poultry, or fish, and toast comes out perfect every time. The appliance cooks up to 50-percent faster than a conventional oven, with no pre-heating or thawing necessary, making it possible to pull dinner out of the freezer and have it fully cooked and ready to serve in no time. There's also no need to worry about what temperature to cook at since the intelligent profiling system cycles the cooking lights according to the type of food being cooked. The oven provides a control panel with an LCD screen and 52 digital pre-settings for one-touch ease of use. For example, select from functions including pizza, quick foods, cookies, toast, reheat, bake/roast, or broil, and the digital display allows for scrolling through a variety of detailed choices. Best of all, the units convert menu lets you enter the temperature and time for a favorite recipe, then automatically converts it to InfraWave time. Accessories include a broil rack, bake pan, removable crumb tray, and an instruction manual. The 1500-watt countertop oven measures approximately 14 by 13-3/4 by 10 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Hamilton Beach 31199R Countertop 1.1-Cubic-Foot Convection Oven with Rotisserie Review

Hamilton Beach 31199R Countertop 1.1-Cubic-Foot Convection Oven with Rotisserie
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Before buying this particular oven, I read as many product reviews as could be found. They were for a similar Hamilton Beach Oven but not this exact one. And many were quite negative. But it seemed to be just what I wanted. This would be my third countertop oven. The first one lasted over 25 years. The second one, only about 8 years. It arrived earlier than predicted, always a plus. I burned every single thing I put in it for the first week. Not the oven's fault. I'm laughing as I write this. It is so efficient and works so well and I forgot the times on the previous oven were due to it's "dying" process. So, didn't think to compensate for a "new" oven. Well, now I'm doing much better and things are marvelous from this little jewel. Cookies, main dishes, heating up sauces quickly, (I just moved, gave away my microwave and decided not to buy another), sandwiches, even toast from atisan breads are perfectly cooked. So all the burnt foods were obviously "operator error".
At first, I worried what oven ware would fit into it but no worries. I now have a very tall stack of things that will fit comfortably in this oven including several 12-inch glass baking dishes for pizza and cookies. I only had to buy cookie sheets as all the rest (bread pans, muffin tins, springform cake pan, angelfood cake pan, etc) all fit inside very nicely. And best of all, the really large and oversized items can be given away, taking up less storage space in a space-challenged apt.
I would buy this oven again and again. It's the best. Oh, yes, the "bell" rings at the completion of cooking times and I can hear it in the most distant places of this apt. We've had really hot weather this summer and I've so appreciated only having to heat the kitchen for very few minutes to cook meals then a very quick cool down afterwards. I've not even turned on the large stove/oven that is built in to this apt. And I don't plan to, either. This oven is all I need. Oh, yes, I've been using it since the end of July 2007 - slightly under a month and with daily usage.

For everything from cooking a 5-pound chicken to baking two 12-inch pizzas or a birthday cake, this extra-large 1.1-cubic-foot countertop oven makes it possible to cook whole meals without turning on the full-size oven. Three simple-to-use control knobs allow for setting the temperature; for choosing the function--broil, convection, bake, or rotisserie; and for turning the unit off or selecting the cook time or "continuous on". Its convection method continuously circulates heated air around food, resulting in even heating and 33-percent faster cooking times than a traditional oven. Or use the revolving rotisserie rack to cook meat to moist, tender perfection. Other highlights include a power indicator light, a see-through window for checking on food at a glance, a stay-cool handle, and an easy-to-clean design. Accessories include two oven racks, two baking pans, a broil rack, and a slide-out crumb/drip tray, as well as a rotisserie skewer and a rotisserie lifter. Not sure where to start? Hamilton Beach throws in a user manual with recipes for herb-rubbed chicken, baked potatoes, meat loaf, pumpkin cookies, muffins, and much more. Dishwasher-safe parts make cleanup a snap, and the stainless-steel front-panel design looks great in any kitchen. The countertop oven measures approximately 12-1/2 by 17-1/2 by 13-2/3 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Corelle Livingware Winter Frost 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4 Review

Corelle Livingware Winter Frost 16-Piece Dinnerware Set, Service for 4
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It says a lot about a product like this when it's been continuously available since 1970. I've owned Corelle for most of the past 30 years. I recently bought a 17-piece set from Wal-Mart (same as this + a 1-quart serving bowl) for about $24 to replace some Corelle pieces that didn't match my Winter Frost pieces and to have more place settings. The mugs are cheap stoneware made in Thailand, not Corelle. They don't quite match the Corelle and they're going to the Goodwill along with the mismatched plates and bowls, but it was still a good deal for the rest of the set.
I love Corelle. All Corelle looks as if it was stamped out of a sheet of white glass, which is a result of the way it's made. There are no "base rings" or loop handles (which is why there have never been any Corelle mugs). The design makes Corelle very easy to wash and dry. They're very thin, and they stack with virtually no extra space in between them so they use remarkably little cubbard space. A stack of ten dinner plates is only 2" high. Try that with those heavy stoneware plates that chip every time two of them bang together. They're microwave- and oven-safe (don't use on the stove or under the broiler). And they're still made in the US.
It's as if Corelle was invented for large families with lots of kids. It's durable, so the kids won't be breaking it very easily (although it will break on ceramic tile or the concrete if the kids drop it while playing outside ;-). Second, you can easily put 8, 12, or even 16 place settings in any cabinet. If you have kids, you know why that's a good thing. Every time kids eat anything they have to use a clean dish, and they snack a lot, so they go through clean dishes at a frightening pace. With Corelle you can have a big supply of dishes without breaking the bank or using a lot of cabinet space.
Another nice thing about Corelle is that you can use the plates to cover the bowls. The small plates that come in this set are the same diameter as the cereal bowls in this set. The 8.5" luncheon plates (sold separately) are the same diameter as the 1-quart serving bowls and the pasta bowls. The dinner plates in this set are the same diameter as the 2-quart serving bowls and the 9" deep dish pie plate (which makes a fabulous pasta bowl).
The Winter Frost White looks simple, clean, and never goes out of style. Really, after using Corelle for nearly 30 years I don't have even a nit to pick with it. Get a bunch of it and enjoy the best designed dishes ever made. With any luck you'll still have them in 20 or 30 years, and don't be surprised if they still look new after that all time, especially if you go over them with Bon Ami once or twice a year.

Wolfgang Puck WPDCORP20 Bistro Digital Convection Oven with Rotisserie and Pizza Drawer Review

Wolfgang Puck WPDCORP20 Bistro Digital Convection Oven with Rotisserie and Pizza Drawer
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The pizza oven works fine but it only heats at 350 degrees so you can't REALLY cook a pizza properly at that temperature. The rotisserrie works OK but the claim that you can put a large bird on there are false. The oven is tiny and the 3# bird has to be tied up tighter than a football to keep from touching the bottom of the oven (it cooks okay though). The standard bake oven is absolutely terrible - it cooks so uneven it's not even funny (I have a pumpkin pie cooking at this moment that has burned streaks on one edges and the middle is still liquid, and yes, I have foil over it) - cookies bake crispy on one end and chewy on the other. The convection is finicky - it will cook things very quickly but it's not easy to get it right since there is no magic time as to exactly when it will be finished.....I baked a fruit pie that was gorgeous on the outside and totally raw on the inside. I ended up cooking it again in the standard oven - I had to keep turning and turning to keep it from browning unevenly. So....all of that to say it's ok. It was convenient to have this holiday to keep a couple dishes warm. The pizza oven is convenient, but not as convenient as a space saving toaster oven which is basically what it is. Except a toaster oven is better made for the most part...the crummy plastic buttons on this thing feel like they will pop out everytime they are touched. Oh, it takes ages to heat up and it's frustrating if you don't hear the faint beep the oven just shuts off...grrrr.

A useful addition to any kitchen, this versatile countertop oven helps make mealtime a snap, whether cooking for a crowd during the holidays when extra cooking space comes in handy or simply keeping up with the everyday demands of a busy family. The three-in-one appliance offers a spacious 4/5-cubic-foot capacity and functions as a convection oven, a rotisserie, and a pizza baker. The pizza drawer accommodates pizzas up to 12 inches in diameter, and its swing-out ergonomic stay-cool handle makes it easy to slide pizzas in and out of the oven (handle folds out of the way when not in use). Even more, the oven's user-friendly push-button controls and digital blue LCD read-out makes it easy to program. Simply adjust the temperature up to 450 degrees F, set the electronic timer (lower oven up to 30 minutes; upper oven up to three hours), and choose from nine settings: defrost, keep warm, standard bake, convection bake, slow cook, roast, broil, rotisserie, and lower oven (for baking pizzas). The unit's convection cooking promotes fast, even heating at lower temperatures and without hot spots, and its rotisserie cooking option works great for whole chickens, roasts, and more. Other thoughtful design details include an "on" indicator light, an easy-to-clean nonstick interior with stainless-steel side rails, and a child lock to prevent changes to oven settings during the cooking cycle. Accessories include two baking racks, a rotisserie spit and fork, a rotisserie removal tool, a drip/baking pan with a broil-pan insert, two removable crumb trays (one for the pizza drawer), and a user manual with recipes. Attractively housed in durable stainless steel, the ETL-listed 1500-watt convection oven measures approximately 19 by 15-1/2 by 14 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

Cuisinart BRK-200 Brick Oven Deluxe, Stainless Steel Review

Cuisinart BRK-200 Brick Oven Deluxe, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this beautiful toaster/convection oven to use as a second oven for entertaining/holidays and for everyday use to cook for just the two of us.
First of all, it's darned beautiful to look at. It matches my stainless appliances and looks fabulous on my counter. The controls are very easy to use. It comes with 2 racks (although you're only supposed to use one at a time) and a baking pan/broiler tray. But the best thing is that it comes with a baking stone which sits in one of the racks and the oven itself is lined with baking stone material on either side. The back of the oven has the convection fan. All non-stone surfaces are of nonstick material, which makes it a cinch to clean.
In the month I've had it, I've used this amazing appliance to bake cakes and casseroles, broil shrimp, make pizza, roast tomatoes and chickens and even toast an english muffin! It passed every test with flying colors. The oven is large enough to fit a whole chicken for roasting - and did a great job.
I'd say the weak points are that you have to turn the oven around to get the crumb tray out (a minor inconvenience) and both the crumb tray and the baking pan tend to warp when the oven is hot.
To use the baking stone, you must preheat the oven for at least 30 minutes. Not a problem for me, as I preheated while waiting for my pizza dough to rise. Worked out great.
I'm delighted to give this my highest recommendation.

All-Clad 51125 All Clad Stainless-Steel 12-Inch Fry Pan with Lid
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I received this pan today and made dinner for the family with it. It works well. The lid is reasonably well-fitting. I'm commenting here to note that when I saw this deal I wondered if it was too good to be true, but it's in fact the genuine article. And also - this pan is significantly lighter than my five- or six-year-old all-clad stainless 12" fry pan (which needed replacing after operator error) - about 1.22 kg vs 1.38 kg according to my kitchen scale. That's a plus for ease of use and cleanup, but the reduced mass must mean less heat retention if the design hasn't changed.

A useful addition to any busy kitchen, this classic 12-inch stainless-steel fry pan comes in handy for anything from sauteing vegetables or frying tofu to cooking up scrambled eggs or hash browns on a Saturday morning. Measuring 12-4/5 by 20-1/2 by 3 inches overall, its design includes gently flared sides that make it easy to slide a veggie omelet from the pan to a plate.
The bestseller among All-Clad's renowned cookware collections, the Stainless line provides serious and professional cooks all the virtues that make All-Clad's worldwide reputation unsurpassed. Its three-ply bonded design features a thick aluminum core sandwiched between an inside layer of 18/10 stainless steel and an outside layer of magnetic stainless steel, which work together to ensure fast heat-up times and even heat distribution along the base and up the sides. In addition, the cookware's 18/10 stainless-steel interior won't react with food, which means tomato-based sauces and other acidic foods won't taste metallic, and its magnetic stainless-steel exterior allows for use on induction as well as conventional stovetops.
The cookware's solid stainless-steel handle stays cool to the touch and offers a comfortable, ergonomic grip, plus it comes riveted to the pan for safety and long-lasting strength. The versatile fry pan can go safely in the oven up to 500 degrees F and under the broiler, and it comes with a stainless-steel lid that helps keep in heat, moisture, and nutrients. When finished, clean the pan and its lid by hand (recommended) or in the dishwasher. Made in the USA, the cookware carries a limited lifetime warranty.

T-Fal Avante Elite 6 Slice Convection & Toaster Oven with Separate Warming Compartment Review

T-Fal Avante Elite 6 Slice Convection and Toaster Oven with Separate Warming Compartment
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I like the looks of this oven. I had a Cuisinart Convection Toaster Oven that I tossed after two years. Unlike the Cuisinart the T-Fal is easy to clean, it doesn't have an area by the glass-hinged door that is impossible to clean. The crumb tray is accessed from the front of the oven, not the back. Also the T-Fal shuts off when the time on the timer is done. The warming tray is great for warming hot dog buns while broiling hot dogs in the oven. The controls are straight forward and easy to use without having to read the manual. I'm looking forward to many years of good cooking with this oven. If I experience any problems I'll update this review.

Wowbacon Microwave Bacon Cooker Review

This works like it is intended to, but the first use, the plastic tray you set the bacon on started to melt in small areas. My husband thought that the handle was attached to the cup and released it to spill all over the floor. I wish the cooker was ceramic. Char Broil Offset Smoker American Gourmet Grill Review

Char Broil Offset Smoker American Gourmet Grill
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had no illusions that I would be able to buy a decent smoker for this kind of price but I didn't want to spend $1000+ for one nor did I want to start from scratch and build one from surplus propane tanks or 55 gallon drums either.
I also wanted something on the smaller side as there is just the two of us to cook for usually. I don't usually cook for big crowds, church groups or the whole neighborhood. Not that I'm not good enough because I'm a pretty decent cook if I do say so and most people who eat my cooking say so too.
We got one of these at our local WalMart store. I got it home, put it together and built a wood fire in the fire box to find out what it would do, exactly what it's short comings were and what extent of those shortcomings were. There were many and it was indeed pretty dismal. I could see clearly this thing was, as I suspected it would be, a piece of junk the moment I opened the box.
After doing some research on the web and reading up on several modifications for this type offset of smoker grill, I took it to my garage and performed several modifications to it to make it function as it should. Mainly those consisted of moving the smoke stack to a location that made more sense for smoking and adding some thickness to the sheet metal so it didn't waste all the fuel put into it just to burn the paint off the outside but would use some of it for cooking instead. As it came it was only good for converting fuel to waste heat and as I said burning the paint off so it would soon soon dissolve into a pile of rusted overly thin sheet metal.
If you're the handy type and want to get one of these to use as a form to build a smoker around as I did, then go ahead and buy it. Just remember that you get just exactly what you pay for and this thing, as it comes, is just another piece of junk off the boat from China.
Don't, by any means delude, yourself into thinking you're going to buy a decent smoker for this sort of price. Buying this unit is just a start toward getting a smoker, you're not really getting a smoker. Not without some more effort on your part and spending a little more money for materials.
After I am satisfied I am finished with it and have a few more cooking sessions under my belt, I will detail everything I did to it and just exactly how on one of the sites dedicated to smoking meat. Till then if you are the handy type there are several mods detailed for the several units like this one on the web. I will just mention here that it is important to add some sheet metal if you want it to function well and last any amount of time.

Baker's Secret Basics Nonstick Cookie Pan Review

Size is actually 17.5" by 12" - not as listed in product description.
Listed as heavy duty - this is a light middleweight pan at best.
I worked for Ekco-Glaco remanufacturing industrial baking pans for three years and also worked for Satan's cookie baker - Mrs. Fields for two years - I know the difference.

Waring Pro CO900B Professional 8/9-Cubic-Foot Convection Oven Review

Waring Pro CO900B Professional 8/9-Cubic-Foot Convection Oven
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased this oven to off-load our main oven of the smaller cooking tasks. The oven does work well, but the door seal has failed 4 times since I purchased it in November of 2009. I've made complaints to Waring about this issue. Each time they sent me two different seals, one too large and one that fits snugly. And, every time after about a week of light usage, the seal falls apart.
Now that I've been dealing with Waring over this on-going issue, my window for return at Amazon has expired and I am left with an unusable boat anchor sitting on my counter. Because of this I cannot recommend anyone purchase this oven. This makes me suspicious of other Waring products as well. Some thoughts from a not too happy customer.

Proctor Silex 24608Y Cool-Wall Toaster Review

Proctor Silex 24608Y Cool-Wall Toaster
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I finally had to replace the Proctor-Silex toaster that I've had for 31 yrs. Only because the slots weren't big enough for bagles and muffins. I bought this one also made by Proctor-Silex mainly because of the track record of my old one. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles of some of the other ones on the market but it does make great toast evenly done on both sides. So if all you want is a great toaster at a low price then this is the one for you. KenG
