Krups 0925105 Oven Broiling Pan Review

Krups 0925105 Oven Broiling Pan
Average Reviews:

While Krup Toaster ovens are high price and high performance, the broiler pans have a fragile teflon coating that scratches off easily. First time in the dishwasher left significant scratches. Obviously shouldn't use metal tools when broiling with this etc. Pity that Krup diddn't include either a porcelain or stainless steel finish. Only positive about this pan is that lacking a durable finish is that it is cheap.

Kitchenaid Roaster Pan with Floating Rack Review

I purchased this to make my annual Thanksgiving Turkey in. I cook this at 325 degrees.
After 3 uses, the non-stick coating pulled off. It is now unsafe to use! Kitchen Aid does not even make this pan.

Calphalon LRS1805P Contemporary Stainless Special-Value 16-Inch Roaster with Nonstick Roasting Rack Review

Calphalon LRS1805P Contemporary Stainless Special-Value 16-Inch Roaster with Nonstick Roasting Rack
Average Reviews:

I purchased this pan to tackle a prime rib roast for Christmas dinner. The pan itself is very heavy, solid and distrubutes the heat well. One thing I do not like about other roasting pans that I have purchased is sometimes the pan juices seem to burn in the oven which results in no "pan goodness" to make gravy with. I have used this pan multiple times and never had that issue- the bits and pieces will brown, but do not get a burned flavor. I attribute this to the construction of the pan and the heaviness of the weight. I would give the pan a solid 5 stars, but the rack that comes with this pan immediately started peeling and rusting even though I ran it in the dishwasher and promptly removed it. So what is a girl to do?
I bought the William Bounds silicon roasting rack (from Amazon) and now use this with my pan. I could have purchased a replacement rack for $19 or paid shipping and handling to get a replacement rack through the warranty, but I have been very impressed with the William Bounds rack and it fits perfectly in the pan. Clean up is a snap- both pieces go right in the dishwasher and come out looking as if I just pulled them out of the box for the first time. Plus, the WB rack has a slightly smaller grid so even on the coldest of days I can have familiy over (about 20 people) and still serve roasted chicken breasts with baked potatoes and salad in a snap.

Wilton Recipe Right Large Broiler Grid Pan Review

Wilton Recipe Right Large Broiler Grid Pan
Average Reviews:

The grill part of this boiler pan set is excellent. Heavy guage steel, easy to clean. The pan portion is crap. Lightweight steel without porcelain coating. It warped after three months and has turned from grey to brown due to baked on grease that cannot be cleaned. Pass on this stylish creative broiler pan and hang with the conventional porcelain design.

Columbian Home Products 3Pc Broiler Pan/Rack 0513-2 Cookware Ceramic On Steel Open Stock Review

I'm in the market for just such a pan but I want to use it in a large toaster oven, so with handles included, it can't be longer than 12 X 9, or better 11 X 9 or in that range. Without the precise dimensions and capacities, how do you hope to sell it?
UPDATE: I looked it up on another site and took its specifications:
Weight: 3.50
Length: 15.63
Width: 9.75
Height: 2.00

This should help all who would gain by this information. Too big for my purpose.

Chicago Metallic 26639 Nonstick Petite Broil & Roast Pan Review

Chicago Metallic 26639 Nonstick Petite Broil and Roast Pan
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a nice piece of metal, not a flimsy piece of junk. I use it with the rack for broiling in my toaster oven. I like the depth because it contains lateral splatters. (The exact size is 10 x 6.9 x 1.8 inches deep; the removable rack rests 3/4 of an inch above pan's bottom). It cleans easily, however, it might be a good idea to spray Pam in it before use.
UPDATE, July 2009: After four months of use I notice signs of rusting at the bottom of the pan. If I had used Pam from the very beginning this might not have occurred. Also, I don't know if washing it in the dishwasher might have prompted the rusting. I contacted the Chicago Metallic Company. Here is what they told me:
"While there are consumer pans that bear the brand name 'Chicago Metallic' there is only one Chicago Metallic that carries the Bundy Eagle and offers pans that are made exclusively in the USA. Our pans represent the industry's highest standards for quality, service and durability and we are sure that after you use our pans there will be no doubt as to which Chicago Metallic you prefer.
"The Chicago Metallic Nonstick Petite Broil & Roast Pan is not made by us. It is made in China by Focus Products, Inc. We sold them the rights to use our name back in '04."
Wholly surprised by this revelation I found myself wondering, "What do we have here? A plot to deceive the public?" Chicago Metallic is allowing another company to use their good name (yes, they do enjoy a leading reputation) whether that company produces top quality merchandise or not. Corporate greed rules the day. I would have been very upset were it not for the rather low price of this item.
I contacted Focus Products. They told me the following: "This pan is not supposed to rust, but if you are using 'hard water' there could be a problem. The pan is dishwasher safe, but make sure that it is situated upside down in your machine so that there won't be any standing water in the pan during or after the drying cycle."
Note: the superintendent of my building says that we do not have hard water. He suggests I use the dishwasher's "Quick Wash" cycle rather than the "Heavy Duty" cycle that I had been using.
I know you might be wondering why I don't just wash it by hand, but it's easier for me to dump it all (pan and rack) into the dishwasher and be done with it. If I have to replace this combo every four months I guess it's still worth the money; that is, until I can find something better. Meanwhile, regarding my two star rating, I've been criticized for being "inordinately generous".
Folks, this is not a product that can be reviewed right out of the box. I urge reviewers to update their reviews. Pigs at the Trough: How Corporate Greed and Political Corruption Are Undermining America

Chicago Metallic Non-Stick Roast 'N Broil Pan with Non-Stick Rack, 13 by 9 by 2-1/4-Inch Review

Chicago Metallic Non-Stick Roast 'N Broil Pan with Non-Stick Rack, 13 by 9 by 2-1/4-Inch

When I first grabbed this pan in its packaging, I thought there must be something extra included underneath the pan. Nope, this pan is just built out of heavy gauge steel. This pan is made by cutting a pattern out of the steel and then all 4 sides are folded together and the flaps from the long sides wrapped around the ends. The seams are so tight on the inside it almost, almost being the key word, looks like they were welded together. The top edge has a wire rod running around the perimeter and then the sides are rolled over it to give the pan rigidity. Both the rack and pan have a non-stick coating which should make clean-up easy. I'll have to see about that after I roast a whole chicken.
Lastly, this pan comes with a 25 year warranty.
UPDATE: After using this pan for 30 days I'm more than happy with my purchase. I've roasted 2 beef standing rib roasts, 2 5-rib pork roasts and several chickens. Clean up is a piece of cake. Even things that seemed baked on washed right off including the rack. The pan did take on a slight patina after the first use but hasn't gotten any worse.

Granite Ware 3-Piece Bake, Broil, and Grill Pan Set Review

Granite Ware 3-Piece Bake, Broil, and Grill Pan Set
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Granite Ware 3 Piece Bake, Broil & Grill Set
I suppose there is a more cheaply made broiler pan out there somewhere, but I can't imagine how any more corners could be cut...no pun intended, since all edges of the two painted steel sheets are knife sharp. The steel used to punch out those two pieces couldn't be thinner.
Package wrap indicates not to heat when empty! My intent was to pre-heat as a steamer for bread baking by adding water to the pan to create a crispy crust. Still searching for an at least a medium grade broiler pan.
Amazon's packaging was loose enough to cause the pan to bounce around freely in the shipping box, causing the chrome plated grate (not stainless steel) to scratch the paint off; looks like rust will follow shortly. Don't waste your $$ on this low end device.
